Please Give Love a Pair of Wing to Fly Freely

1。 There was once a lonely girl who longed so much for love。 One day while he was walking in the woods she found two starving songbirds。 She took them home and put them in a *all cage。 She cared them with love and the birds grew strong。 Every morning they greeted her with a wonderful song。 The girl felt great love for the birds。

2。 One day the girl left the door to the cage open。 The larger and stronger of the two birds flew from the cage。 The girl was so frightened that he would fly away。 As he flew close, she grasped him wildly。 Her heart felt glad at her success in capturing him。 Sudden*he felt the bird go limp。 She opened her hand and stared in horror at the dead bird。 Her desperate love had killed him。 She noticed the other bird moving back and forth on the edge of the cage。 She could feel his great need for freedom。 He needed to soar into the clear, blue sky。 She lifted him from the cage and tossed him softly into the air。 The bird circled once, twice, three times。 The girl watched delightedly at the bird’s enjoyment。 Her heart was no longer concerned with her own loss。 She wanted the bird to be happy。 Suddenly the bird flew closer and landed softly on her shoulder。 It song the sweetest melody that she had ever heard。

3。 This story tells us: The fastest way to lose love is to hold on it too tight; the best way to keep love is to give it wings!

The Warmth of the Human Nature

1。 After moving into a new residence, there was a sudden blackout and darkness in the house before the hostess tidied up。

2。 The hostess just touched the candle and matches when a tap at the door came from outside。

3。 Opening the door, she found it was a *all girl, who picking up her little face and asked, “Auntie is there a candle in your home?”

4。 How so? The first day I just moved the neighbor sent for their child to borrow something。 Weren’t they bullying the newcomer? Today I lend them a candle and maybe they would come to borrow onion or garlic。 No。 No way! So the hostess said, “Oh dear, unluckily, your aunt just moved here and don’t prepare the candle。” After that, she was about to close the door。

5。 “Auntie, look, my mother asked for me to send it。” The *all girl, like a conjurer, drew her hand from behind and raised high two thick candles。

6。 Facing the crystal-clear eyes of the girl, the hostess was shocked, weakly leaning on the door with her hands covering her face and having no nerve to look at the girl。

  The Pudding of Love

1。 I stood in the aisle of the market for nearly ten minutes trying to make a simple decision about what type of pudding to buy。 My life is such that anything with an “instant” label on it grabs my attention。 But oh the memories of my mom making chocolate “cook and serve” pudding。

2。 As I stood there in the market, I could see myself as a child waiting by the stove and watching my mom slow*tir the pudding until it reached that creamy velvet rich texture。 I could see her pouring it into the cups, leaving just enough stuck to the sides of the pot to entice me to take the stirring spoon and scrape every morsel, until the pot barely needed to be cleaned。

3。 The process of making this dreamy dessert takes patience and time。 Two things I find myself lacking in my life today。

4。 On one hand, the instant is easier and requires one bowl。 No muss。 No fuss。 But too many times in my life I have taken the easy way。 Oh yes, I have reached my goal in the process。 But to what gain? Instant stuff brings little satisfaction in life。 A solid success that one hangs proudly on the wall is one that requires the same special attention as “cook and serve” pudding。

  True Love Always Prevails

1。 True love is that we stick together in “thick and thin”。 Especially when it’s thin, when it’s troublesome。 Then we should really bridge over the “troubled water”。 That’s what they say in English。 But most of us fail the test, to ourselves, not to our partners。 He might leave you; he might stay with you, because you’re nice or not nice。 But you fail yourself。 You leave yourself。 You leave the noblest being that you really are。 So we should check up on this to our family members or whomever that is beloved and dear to us。 Most of the time in critical situations, we just turn our backs and that is no good。

2。 Of course we have our anger, our frustrations, because our partners are not as loving as usual, or whomever that is; but he or she is in a different situation。 At that time, she or he is in mental suffering。 It’s just as bad as or even worse than physical suffering。 Physical suffering you can take a pill or you can have an injection and it stops or at least temporari*tops, and you feel the effect right away; or at least if people are in physical suffering, everyone sympathizes with them。

3。 But when they are in mental anguish, and we pound them more on that, and we turn our backs and become cold and indifferent, that is even crueler, even worse。 That person will be swimming alone in suffering。 And especially they trust us as the next of kin, the next person, the one that they think they can rely on in times of need; and then at that time, we just turn around and are snobbish, because they didn’t treat us nice so we just want to revenge。 That’s not the time。 You can revenge later, when he’s in better shape。 Just slap him。

4。 Actually, at that time, the person is not his usual self anymore。 He was probably under very great pressure that he lost his own control。 It’s not really lost his own control, but for example, when you are in a hurry, your talk is different。 Right? “Hand me that coat! Quick! Quick! Quick!” Things like that。 But normally, you would say “Honey, please, can you give me that coat。” Is that not so? Or when you’re in pain —for example stomach pain, heartache or whatever—you scream loudly; and anyone who comes to talk to you, you don't talk in the usual way anymore, because you’re in pain。

5。 Similarly, when you are in a mental or psychological pain, you talk also in a very grouchy way, very cross。 But that is understandable。 So if we—any so-called loving partner or family member—do not understand even this very least, very basic concept, then we’re finished。 Then we are really in a bad situation。 It’s not that the partner will do anything to us。 Whether he does anything to us later or not, that is no problem。 The problem is us。 The problem is we degrade ourselves, that we make less of a being of ourselves than we should be, than we are supposed to be, or that we really are。 So do not make less of a being of yourselves。

  Who Gave Me the Ears

1。 “Can I see my baby?” the happy new mother asked。

2。 When the bundle was nestled in her arms and she moved the fold of cloth to look upon his tiny face, she gasped。 The doctor turned quickly and looked out the tall hospital window。 The baby had been born without ears。

3。 Time proved that the baby’s hearing was perfect。 It was only his appearance that was marred。 When he rushed home from school one day and flung himself into his mother’s arms, she sighed, knowing that his life was to be a succession of heartbreaks。

  4。 He blurted out the tragedy。 “A boy, a big boy……called me a freak。”

5。 He grew up, handsome for his misfortune。 A favorite with his fellow students, he might have been class president, but for that。 He developed a gift, a talent for literature and music。

6。 “But you might mingle with other young people,” his mother reproved him, but felt a kindness in her heart。

7。 The boy’s father had a session with the family physician…… “Could nothing be done?”

8。 “I believe I could graft on a pair of outer ears, if they could be procured,” the doctor decided。 Where upon the search began for a person who would make such a sacrifice for a young man。

9。 Two years went by。 One day, his father said to the son, “You’re going to the hospital, son。 Mother and I have someone who will donate the ears you need。 But it’s a secret。”

10。 The operation was a brilliant success, and a new person emerged。 His talents blossomed into genius, and school and college became a series of triumphs。

11。 Later he married and entered the diplomatic service。 One day, he asked his father, “Who gave me the ears? Who gave me so much? I could never do enough for him or her。”

12。 “I do not believe you could,” said the father, “but the agreement was that you are not to know……not yet。”

13。 The years kept their profound secret, but the day did come。 One of the darkest days that ever passes through a son。 He stood with his father over his mother’s casket。 Slowly, tenderly, the father stretched forth a hand and raised the thick, reddish brown hair to reveal the mother had no outer ears。

14。 “Mother said she was glad she never let her hair be cut,” his father whispered gently, “and nobody ever thought mother less beautiful, did they?”

The Difference a Teacher Can Make她的关心改变了男孩的一生

1。 Steve, a twelve-year-old boy with alcoholic parents, was about to be lost forever, by the U。S. education system。 Remarkably, he could read, yet, in spite of his reading skills, Steve was failing。 He had been failing since first grade, as he was passed on from grade to grade。 Steve was a big boy, looking more like a teenager than a twelve year old, yet, Steve went unnoticed…… until Miss White。

2。 Miss White was a *iling, young, beautiful redhead, and Steve was in love! For the first time in his young life, he couldn’t take his eyes off his teacher; yet, still he failed。 He never did his homework, and he was always in trouble with Miss White。 His heart would break under her sharp words, and when he was punished for failing to turn in his homework, he felt just miserable! Still, he did not study。

3。 In the middle of the first semester of school, the entire seventh grade was tested for basic skills。 Steve hurried through his tests, and continued to dream of other things, as the day wore on。 His heart was not in school, but in the woods, where he often escaped alone, trying to shut out the sights, sounds and *ells of his alcoholic home。 No one checked on him to see if he was safe。 No one knew he was gone, because no one was sober enough to care。 Oddly, Steve never missed a day of school。

4。 One day, Miss White’s impatient voice broke into his daydreams。

5。 “Steve!” Startled, he turned to look at her。

  6。 “Pay attention!”

7。 Steve locked his gaze on Miss White with adolescent adoration, as she began to go over the test results for the seventh grade。

8。 “You all did pretty well,” she told the class, “except for one boy, and it breaks my heart to tell you this, but……” She hesitated, pinning Steve to his seat with a sharp stare, her eyes searching his face。

9。 “……The *artest boy in the seventh grade is failing my class!”

10。 She just stared at Steve, as the class spun around for a good look。 Steve dropped his eyes and carefully examined his fingertips。

11。 After that, it was war!! Steve still wouldn't do his homework。 Even as the punishments became more severe, he remained stubborn。

12。 “Just try it! ONE WEEK!” He was unmoved。

  13。 “You’re *art enough! You’ll see a change!” Nothing fazed him。

14。 “Give yourself a chance! Don’t give up on your life!” Nothing。

15。 “Steve! Please! I care about you!”

16。 Wow! Suddenly, Steve got it!! Someone cared about him? Someone, totally unattainable and perfect, CARED ABOUT HIM!

17。 Steve went home from school, thoughtful, that afternoon。 Walking into the house, he took one look around。 Both parents were passed out, in various stages of undress, and the stench was overpowering! He, quickly, gathered up his camping gear, a jar of peanut butter, a loaf of bread, a bottle of water, and this time……his schoolbooks。 Grim faced and determined he headed for the woods。

18。 The following Monday he arrived at school on time, and he waited for Miss White to enter the classroom。 She walked in, all sparkle and *iles! God, she was beautiful! He yearned for her *ile to turn on him。 It did not。

19。 Miss White, immediately, gave a quiz on the weekend homework。 Steve hurried through the test, and was the first to hand in his paper。 With a look of surprise, Miss White took his paper。 Obviously puzzled, she began to look it over。 Steve walked back to his desk, his heart pounding within his chest。 As he sat down, he couldn’t resist another look at the lovely woman。

20。 Miss White’ face was in total shock! She glanced up at Steve, then down, then up。 Suddenly, her face broke into a radiant *ile。 The *artest boy in the seventh grade had just passed his first test!

21。 From that moment nothing was the same for Steve。 Life at home remained the same, but life still changed。 He discovered that not only could he learn, but he was good at it! He discovered that he could understand and retain knowledge, and that he could translate the things he learned into his own life。 Steve began to excel! And he continued this course throughout his school life。

22。 After high-school Steve enlisted in the Navy, and he had a successful military career。 During that time, he met the love of his life, he raise*mily, and he graduated from college Magna Cum Laude。 During his naval career, he inspired many young people, who without him, might not have believed in themselves。 Steve began a second career after the Navy, and he continues to inspire others, as an adjunct professor in a nearby college。

23。 Miss White left a great legacy。 She saved one boy who has changed many lives。 I know, because I am the love of his life。

24。 You see, it’s simple, really。 A change took place within the heart of one boy, all because of one teacher, who cared。

  A Stranger on Escalator

1。 A brief act of kindness brings an unexpected insight。

2。 I was shopping at a department store and had just boarded the down escalator when I noticed a woman standing to the side。 She looked about 65, and her expression told me she was scared。 I turned toward her and asked, “Do you need help?” As the escalator continued moving I heard the woman rep*oftly, “I’m afraid。” There was a hint of incredulity in her voice。 “Want me to come back and get you?” I called to her。 She nodded。 But by the time I reached her, the woman had reconsidered。 “I don’t think I can do it,” she said。 I was suddenly aware that I had made a far greater investment than I expected。 “I know we can do it,” I said。 “I can hold on to you。” She looked down at the beast。 Then her eyes came back to mine, looking doubtful。 “This has never happened to me before,” she said, as much to herself as to me。 I felt that her sudden fear had to do with the escalator’s mechanical nature, its basic inhuman untrustworthiness。 I took her arm。 “Shall we?” She made a little sound of alarm as we stepped on, but we’d passed the point of no return。 She relaxed slightly as the stairs moved us downward。 “I don’t understand this at all,” she said。 As we neared the bottom, her grip tightened again, but we did fine。 “I’m so grateful……” she began。 “ It was nothing,” I said。 “I was happy to do it。” Happy, yes。 I do very little to help others。 I am busy caring for a family and working full time。 For a brief moment, I had a flash of insight into why someone would become a nurse or a social worker or a minister。 When I helped the woman, I felt pure and whole, purposeful。 It was a happier moment than I’d had in weeks。

  Twelve Sincere Smiles 12

1。 A passenger told an air hostess that he needed a cup of water to take his medicine when the plane just took off。 She told him that she would bring him the water in ten minutes。

2。 Thirty minutes later, when the passenger’s ring for service sounded, the air hostess flew in a flurry。 She was kept so busy that she forgot to deliver him the water。 As a result, the passenger was held up to take his medicine。 She hurried over to him with a cup of water, but he refused it。

3。 In the following hours on the flight, each time the stewardess passed be the passenger she would ask him with a *ile whether he needed help or not。 But the passenger never paid heed to her。

4。 When he was going to get off the plane, the passenger asked the stewardess to hand him the passengers’ booklet。 She was very sad。 She knew that he would write down sharp words, but with a *ile she handed it to him。

5。 Off the plane, she opened the booklet, and cracked a *ile, for the passenger put it, “On the flight, you asked me whether I need help or not for twelve times in all。 How can I refuse your twelve sincere *iles?”

6。 That’s right! Who can refuse your twelve sincere *iles from a person?

  Love Is Everything

1。 The winter cold hung in the air like a frozen dinosaur trying to thaw from his glacier and walk across the earth。 Breath iced like a tiny morning mist upon a meandering river。 The sounds of the city rising and spilling into silence as the night began to claim its citizens for sleep。

2。 Blowing on gloved hands that seemed to have little effect on cold hands that ached with chill。 Long hours hanging pressed clothes, pulling tickets and ringing up the customers。 The last of the packaged hot chocolate gone and only the longing need for home and a pot pie to warm her。

3。 It was payday and she cashed her check。 Two Santas and one Salvation Army captain and she were minus ten dollars but what did it matter? She had a place to sleep, something decent to eat, and she had Drew。

4。 Drew with his kindness, his caring and his humor to lighten her day。 Thanksgiving was nigh and they were collecting early for the hungry and the children that would have no Christmas without them。 She was so much more lucky than most of them but perhaps not as lucky as those that scurried in the Wednesday night sleet, shopping early before the pickings became slim。 Life was not always easy but sometimes it could always be safe。

5。 She had Drew, and Smat, the ugly little terrier that nobody wanted。 She had comfort and warmth in the apartment。 She had dinner for tomorrow thawing in the *all turkey and the little Thanksgiving bonus from her boss。

6。 But most of all, she had love。 It was the most important of all。
